"May contain up to 10% Ethanol" The label says. I've wondered this myself. One of my buddies with a built BNR32 ran Chevron 94 "Contains no Ethanol", Tuned, then tried 91 "with ethanol" and found he could run more boost. I speculate though, because ethanol burns cooler and in more of a 'linear' fashion than gas, it helps you attain a higher boost threshold. However, I would be wary of the lower octane fuel, run less timing, but a bit more boost. Conversely, with 94 Octane, One would benefit with running more timing, for better response, and reducing the boost threshold. It's all a balancing act, just depends what you want to do with your car/tune. Personally, I am really waiting for the day that Canadians see E85 at the pumps (Not for a long time I bet :( )

"If Charlie Sheen quit doing cocaine - and a month later, he died of a heart attack... Nobody would be surprised.". Same thing with the VG: If the engine was tuned, stopped detting - and a month later, cracked a wrist pin... Nobody would be surprised. |
